Counselor-in-Training

Theresa DuBay

I believe therapy is a collaborative process where, through empathy, creativity, and tailored support, individuals can discover their strengths, reshape their narratives, and find empowerment to navigate life’s challenges.

Hi, I’m Theresa.

Hello! I am Theresa, and I’m honored to join you on your journey toward healing and growth. I am passionate about providing a safe, compassionate, and creative space where individuals of all ages can feel seen, heard, and supported as they navigate life’s challenges. Whether you’re managing anxiety, depression, grief, or navigating major transitions like parenting, divorce, or burnout, I am here to listen, connect, and work collaboratively with you to find solutions that fit your unique needs. My goal is to help you feel empowered and equipped to achieve balance, well-being, and personal transformation.

My Background & Approach

My professional journey began with a B.A. in Music Education from Wayne State University, where I had the privilege of working with individuals of various ages, backgrounds, and abilities. As both a teacher and parent, I’ve gained valuable insights into life’s complexities and transitions, deepening my empathy and commitment to helping others. These experiences inform my work as a therapist, where I integrate person-centered, strengths-based, Adlerian, and creative-arts-informed approaches to therapy.

Creativity plays a central role in my practice. Through art, music, movement, and narrative therapy, I encourage clients to explore emotions, shift perspectives, and reshape their stories in ways that foster growth and resilience. My integrative approach allows for personalized therapy tailored to each individual’s journey, whether through traditional talk therapy or creative modalities.

Beyond the therapy room, I am a dedicated community volunteer and have self-published two children’s books that celebrate storytelling and imagination—values I carry into my therapeutic work. Gratitude and connection guide my practice, and I approach every session with appreciation for the courage it takes to seek support.
