Dana Cogshell
I believe in fostering a supportive, safe space in therapy where clients can openly share, feel valued, and work toward meaningful progress by harnessing their strengths and building resilience.
Hey, I’m Dana.
Hello, I’m Dana Cogshell, a pre-licensed clinical mental health counselor with a passion for supporting young people, from preschoolers to young adults, as they navigate the challenges and transitions of life. I approach therapy with warmth and openness, striving to build genuine connections with my clients. Whether it’s anxiety, depression, or age-related concerns, I work to create a supportive, safe space where impactful conversations can happen, and where meaningful progress toward your goals is possible.
My background & approach
As an emerging mental health professional, I take a humanistic, person-centered, and strength-based approach to therapy. I believe every young person is unique, and my goal is to provide an empathetic environment where clients feel valued and comfortable to openly share their thoughts and experiences. I emphasize the importance of seeing clients as the experts of their own lives, listening with respect and compassion, while encouraging them to harness their strengths to overcome challenges.
In my work, I use cognitive-behavioral techniques to blend evidence-based strategies with a holistic understanding of each client’s needs. I focus on building resilience and empowering clients to shift their perspectives, developing practical solutions that support personal growth. My goal is to foster a partnership in therapy, creating a safe and collaborative space where clients can explore their concerns, develop new insights, and achieve their goals.
With experience as an early childhood classroom assistant and as a peer mentor and graduate residence director, I have honed my skills in guiding and advocating for young people. My background equips me to offer compassionate, developmentally appropriate care that meets each individual where they are, fostering their emotional and social growth.
