Counselor-in-Training

Catiana Mooradian

I believe healing begins in a compassionate, judgment-free space where individuals feel heard, valued, and empowered to explore their identities.

Hi, I’m Cat.

Hello! I’m Cat, and I’m thrilled to be part of the ARISE team, where I am dedicated to providing accessible and compassionate mental health care for children, teens, and their families. My focus is on creating a safe, judgment-free space where kids and teens can explore and express their identities, feel truly heard, and know they are valued. Along this journey, I collaborate closely with caregivers, working together as a team to create meaningful, positive changes for our youth. As a mother, I deeply understand and appreciate the challenges and joys of raising the next generation. Parenting is one of the most significant and rewarding responsibilities, and I am here to offer my personal and professional experiences to support you through this exciting yet demanding journey. Together, we can help your child grow into the best version of themselves while building a compassionate, trusting relationship that supports both you and your child every step of the way.

My Background & Approach

My journey into mental health began years ago and led me to earn a Master’s Degree in the Psychology of Health from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. My interest in healthy lifestyle choices sparked a curiosity about addictive behaviors, particularly alcohol and drug dependencies, which became instrumental in pursuing my career in this field. For the past 15 years, I have worked as a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC), helping individuals and families address the ongoing challenges of substance use disorders. My passion for helping others find balance in their lives inspired me to expand my practice, and I am currently completing a master’s degree in counseling from Oakland University, which I will finish this spring.

My approach blends Humanistic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Systems Theory. This combination allows us to address the concerns of children and their caregivers by exploring thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and connections. We’ll also examine external factors that might be contributing to current challenges, equipping you with practical tools to manage day-to-day demands, so you never feel alone.

Additionally, I speak both Persian and Armenian, and I am particularly passionate about supporting children and families navigating immigration-related and cultural adjustment challenges as they settle into a new home. I am also deeply passionate about supporting those who have experienced discrimination and racial trauma, fostering resilience and growth in the face of adversity.

How I Can Help

Whether your child is dealing with distress, anxiety, self-esteem issues, or significant life changes, I am here to walk alongside you every step of the way. Together, we’ll build the skills and resilience your child—and your family—need to thrive. I look forward to supporting you as this new chapter unfolds.
